Qualifying and the main draw
Qualifying is a route into a tournament’s main draw. Its matches are part of the event’s results, but a qualifying “Final” is the end of a qualifying section, not evidence that the player won the tournament. The number and names of qualifying rounds depend on the event.

Organizers can show qualifying as a separate results section. For example, the Rolex Shanghai Masters official results for 6 October 2026 labels matches “Men’s 2nd Round Qualifying.” That explicit label supports calling them qualifying matches. A data feed’s bare “Final” or “Semi-finals” label, without a verified draw identity, does not establish a main-draw final or semifinal.
What a result does and does not say
A completed score identifies who won that match. To say where the winner went next, check the event’s actual draw or later result. A qualifying win may lead to another qualifying match or a main-draw place according to that event’s structure; the score by itself does not decide which. Our scoring guide explains what the numbers show.
